Rare Bird

The Rare Bird, Chilli's best all-round surfboard, is an evolution of the popular Toucan and Birdseye models. It has become Chilli Surfboards' best-selling and most favored board of all time. The design is based on Mitch Coleborn's favorite Toucan, featuring a single concave under the front foot that transitions into a double concave and a slight vee through the back fin for easy rail-to-rail transitions. The wide point is positioned slightly forward, allowing for smooth flow in smaller waves. Combined with a medium rail and a pulled-in thumb tail, this board offers versatility and forgiveness. The quin fin setup further enhances its performance, making it suitable for small waves up to head-high barrels. It is recommended to ride this board 2-4 inches shorter than your standard shortboard, fitting nicely between the Sugar and A2 models.
